Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Services
Shared Health Services is a
full-service Wound Care Solutions
contract management company for hospitals nationally.
Wound Care Services
Our Wound Treatment Centers are committed to producing the best clinical results as quickly as possible. On average around 3% of your population will have a need for Wound Care services and around 8% of all wound patients will qualify for and meet clinically proven indications for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Services
Should your Wound Care patients have a need for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, they will be treated in a very comfortable HBO chamber. They sleep or watch television for the approximate two hour treatments. Our highly skilled team includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Hyperbaric Technologists and Physicians.
The Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric patients breathe 100% oxygen intermittently while the atmosphere they are in is pressurized so as to compact and re-package the oxygen molecules they are breathing such that a much greater amount of oxygen can be breathed and systemically transferred to the blood stream. The hypoxic wounds that are being treated and hyper-oxygenated use this systemic infusion of oxygen to generate a macrophage activity called angiogenesis (the growth of new micro vessels); thus supplying the damaged areas with a new source of oxygen. This hyper-oxygenation also facilitates the use of antibiotics, leukocyte function and reduces wound edema, as well.
Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Our Wound Treatment Centers see a great number of lower extremity diabetic wounds, failed flaps and grafts, osteomyelitis, radionecrosis and other problem wounds that have not responded fully to conventional Wound Care treatment; which is where Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy becomes a great advantage.
