Clinical Coordinator - Newport News, VA

Pay commensurate with amount of experience.

SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Clinical Coordinator (Registered Nurse-RN) is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities of the Wound Treatment Center including but not limited to use of organizational skills, leadership, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing patient care through the use of hospital and nursing standards. The Clinical Coordinator will collaborate with other health care providers, Wound Treatment Center Physicians, Program Director, and Medical Director regarding clinic and patient needs. He/she is also responsible for demonstrating the corporate values of Shared Health Services.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

The Clinical Coordinator will demonstrate the following essential competencies, duties and responsibilities as a result of education, experience and SHS initial orientation and ongoing corporate learning.

• Provides patients for wound care procedures using safety and clinical protocols.

• Maintain complete and accurate patient records/charts as they pertain to treatment documentation.
• Reinforces patient education as it relates to wound healing procedures.
• Provides case management to a group of patients providing specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management.
• Provides HBO patient assessment and chamber operation as required.
• Organizes and prioritizes clinical responsibilities, provides direct supervision to clinical staff, (RN, LPN, MA, Med Assist, etc).
• Supervises clinical employees, none of which are supervisors of others.
• Consistently looks at current processes and procedures and identifies and implements areas of improvement while adhering to HIPAA, CMS, JCAHO, etc., as well as hospital and SHS requirements.
• Collaborates with Program Director and Medical Director to develop, implement and manage a Performance Improvement Program.
• Engages in staff development, providing general in services as well as individual instruction and orientation.
• Provides staff recognition through positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
• Collaborates with Program Director in coordination of program objectives, from a budgetary and financial perspective.
• Collaborates with Program Director and Medical Director to achieve Wound Care Center quality indicators.
• Participates in Center Quality Assurance and Improvement oversight and monitoring.

• Participates in hospital committees as designated.
• Attends mandatory hospital education.
• Attends all training sessions and meetings, including those that take place out of town.
• Adheres to and enforces hospital dress code policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Position requires the ability to walk and stand most of the day.
Must be able to turn, twist and bend repetitively through the day.
May be required to crouch, stoop and reach high places.
Able to carry, push, pull and handle patients in addition to multiple pieces of equipment using proper body mechanics.
Ability to use hands and fingers to handle/feel objects, tools and controls is required.
Ability to visually accommodate with good color vision, depth perception and wide field of vision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Registered Nurse with current license, Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Previous Wound Care Center experience preferred.
• Three to five years strong management and leadership experience preferred.
• Maintains and demonstrates competency in BLS (Basic Life Support), infection control, safety and all unit required skill review.
• ACLS preferred.
• Will obtain a minimum of 12 hours of wound care specific continuing education credit every two years.
• Will attend HBO introductory training as appropriate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour

Hyperbaric PRN Technician - Monongahela, PA

$12.00 - $17.00 an hour

SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for providing hyperbaric medicine treatments to the patients seen by this service in accordance with accepted protocols, clinical standards, and prescribed by a qualified physician. Responsibilities include patient care, quality control of equipment, invasive and noninvasive monitoring, wound dressings, accurate and timely record keeping, and the safe performance of hyperbaric treatments. The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for care of patients varying in age from infants to geriatric patients. The Hyperbaric Technician must be willing to perform other duties as required.

This position requires good verbal communication and administrative skills. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining necessary departmental/hospital documentation, as well as patient charting utilizing basic computer skills. There will be extensive requirements for interacting with patients, family members and clinical personnel in a professional manner.

The Hyperbaric Technician should be able to exercise initiative and sound independent judgment when caring for patients within the department. He/she will on occasion be required to work in an emotionally charged environment with possible life and death ramifications, demanding high levels of concentration.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

- Prepare patient for HBO treatment using the current safety and clinical protocols provided
- Maintain complete and accurate patient records/charts as they pertain to treatment documentation
- Reinforce education as it relates to HBO therapy
- Perform hyperbaric chamber operations as required
- Perform duties and procedures as directed by supervisor/medical director
- Participate in quality improvement program
- Maintain competencies, continuing education and certifications as appropriate

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Hyperbaric Technician must have prior experience as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), Paramedic, Military Corpsman, RT (respiratory therapist), LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), or RN (registered nurse). Must hold current BLS, and prefer ACLS certification and license in the state of practice. Technician maintains required professional certification within the state of practice. Must attend HBO introductory course within 6 months of employment and obtain Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) or Certified Hyperbaric Specialist (CHS) credential within 18 months of employment. Technician will obtain continuing education credits to maintain CHT or CHS credential.
