Chronic nonhealing wounds are both debilitating and costly. For many seniors their wounds are often caused by diabetes. Diabetic foot problems are frequently associated with neuropathy (nerve damage), skin changes, calluses, poor circulation, foot ulcers and even amputations. Proper prevention has been shown to be an effective deterrent to chronic wounds. One way to prevent the formation of these types of wounds is through appropriate blood sugar control.
